Hello Lova

Hooray! It's here! I came home last night to find 3 perfect boxes sitting on my front porch. I felt a little vulnerable knowing that hundreds of dollars were just sitting there for the taking but nobody bit, thankfully. I tore into the boxes like a kid in a candy store. Here I am opening my shiny new toy!!!!

NOTE: Dramatization as I obviously can't take a picture of myself opening my camera with my camera.

Last night I got my camera with an 18-55mm kit lens, a camera bag and an Ebay purchase of the 50mm 1.8 portrait lens. I got that lens for a steal at $20, well under the going rate of $100+. As it turns out there are little letters associated with the lenses and apparently they actually mean something. New lens, no bueno with the new camera. I guess this fits some old model. Great. So I got online right away to order the "correct lens" and should be getting it tomorrow, compliments of the extra $40 for expedited shipping.

Once the battery was charged it was game on. I started taking photos of everything I could find around the house. Unfortunately my house isn't that interesting and after posing as a model for 2 shots my husband is already sick of it. Anyway, below are my novice first attempts at photography with the 18-55 kit lens. Most pics have had actions applied to them. I have a lot of learning to do but I am going to have a great time doing it. Friends be weary...you will have a camera in your face for the next 6 months.

These next few really cracked me up. I plan to take a lot of "food photography" (I use that term loosely because I have no idea what I am doing). Last weekend we were up in north Idaho (AKA Huckleberry Heaven) picking some serious huckleberries. The contrast is pretty hot on this one but oh well. Jam to come tonight. I had my eye up to the camera so close that I didn't see what was lurking. Insert score from JAWS here: duh nuh. duh nuh. duh nuh.

I bought these personal deep dish pizza pans with a Williams Sonoma gift card I got for my bday. Thanks Mom and Dad!
