I was quite excited and inspired to work on the birthday cake for my dad's 60th a couple of weeks back. I dreamed about it for a month, sketched and googled. I had it all figured out. It was going to be a 4 layer chocolate cake with raspberry filling and cream cheese icing. Kind of "Semi-homemade with Sandra Lee" style because I used a cake mix and premade filling (shhhhhhh) but I did make my own frosting. Our house was so hot that the frosting kept melting. That was the first hiccup. I studied hard how to package the cake for our 8 hour voyage to Eugene. I got it in there perfectly. My dad's 4 layer tennis ball birthday cake.
